How to Transfer Perfume from One Bottle to Another

If you want to know how to transfer perfume from one bottle to another, you need a guide with the right instructions. The reasons for transferring perfume can vary from one individual to another. However, the process needs to be effective if you are to be successful.

How to Transfer Perfume from One Bottle to Another

Before you start, make sure you have the right tools for the job. The good news is that for transferring perfume from one bottle to another, everything you need is easy to get.

You’ll need:

  • Empty bottles
  • Small glass vials (preferably in the range of 1/32 oz to ⅓ oz)
  • Split Bottles
  • A Beaker
  • A small screwdriver or nose pliers
  • A stainless steel funnel

We’ll discuss transferring perfume from spray and splash perfume bottles. For each of these types, the process is different. For instance, a spray bottle requires a longer process than a splash bottle.

How to Transfer Perfume from a Splash Bottle

A splash bottle is the easiest bottle to transfer perfume from one bottle to another. A splash bottle is a perfume bottle that does not have an atomizer or sprayer. You just open it and “splash perfume” on the parts of your body you want to apply perfume.

You can simply open the splash bottle and pour the contents into the empty perfume bottle.  The problem with this move is the risk of wastage. This is where the funnel comes in.

Take your stainless steel funnel and put it into the empty perfume bottle, then slowly pour perfume from the splash bottle into the funnel. Be careful when you do this as excess pouring may lead to spills resulting from the funnel overflowing. Make sure the empty bottle is on a secured surface to prevent it from tipping over when you are working.

Avoid using plastic funnels. Usually, getting the scent out of plastic funnels is almost impossible. If you can’t get a stainless steel funnel, make one using tin foil. Roll a piece of tin foil in a flite fashion. This will work well as a substitute for a stainless steel funnel.

How to Transfer Perfume from a Spray Bottle

Spray bottles present a bigger challenge when it comes to removing the metal cap on top of the bottle. While most of the caps come off easily, some need a little help. This is where your small screwdriver or nose pliers come in.

You can use the pliers to wiggle the cap off without breaking the bottle. Once the cap is off, you can start pouring the perfume into your empty bottle.

Like in the previous method, use the funnel to avoid any spills. Make sure you avoid filling the bottles to the brim and you’re done!

What Happens If the Sprayer Does Not Come Off?

In some cases, the sprayer may be too hard to get off. Some perfumes with sprayers are designed in a way that you cannot remove the sprayer. In this case, do not try to forcibly remove the sprayer. You may end up breaking the perfume bottle.

Instead, you can use a metallic travel perfume bottle. Align the sprayer’s nozzle with the opening of the empty perfume bottle.

Once aligned, gently press the metallic perfume travel bottle against the sprayer’s nozzle to fill it. This should release perfume into the travel bottle. Keep on lifting up and down several times until the travel perfume bottle is full.

How to Transfer Perfume on a Bottle Split

Sometimes, you might not be able to afford one or two fragrances in particular. Trust us, there’s no reason why you should deprive yourself of the fragrance you desire. Like in many similar cases, you can find a way to do this with a bottle split.

A bottle split is simply when you agree to split a bottle of perfume with one or more other people that are also interested in the same fragrance. Why? You might not want to pay full price or you might think you don’t need that much perfume.

As you can see, that’s where knowing how to transfer perfume from one bottle to another comes in handy. The process is very similar to the methods described above. However, the challenge when doing a bottle split is how can you accurately measure how much perfume each person gets?

How to Measure the Capacity of Split Bottles

Split bottles can be measured using a beaker and some water. Pour water into the split bottle and empty the water in the split bottle into the beaker. You will get the exact measurement of the split bottle and know how much perfume you can put into it.

Take the split bottle and pour the measured water into it. You will be able to see where the water level rests after pouring water in. Ideally, the level should be about 85% of the whole split bottle. This means the split bottle will hold the specified amount of perfume without spilling over. The process will also let you know how much the split bottle can hold.

Pour out the water from the beaker and split the bottle. Let them dry before you use them to transfer perfume. Any water remnants will contaminate the fragrance. You can now pour the desired amount of perfume from the splash or spray bottle into the split bottle.

Conclusion

Transferring perfume from one bottle to another shouldn’t be a challenge if you are careful and follow the right methods. As long as you have the right tools and the guide above, you should be able to transfer perfume successfully and keep on enjoying your favorite fragrances whenever you are.
